1.(welcome in) “Given the tumultuous state of the record biz, the growing recession and ever growing threats of a potential economic depression, and an overall sense of wariness toward the world in which we live, it’s no surprise that 2008 has found itself packed with groups getting back to their roots. Letters style of orchestral folk-pop (with emphasis on folk) are no exception; however, their music is uniquely their own. Listening to this music, packed with edgy cello, melodica, ukelele, various synthesizers, a toy piano, musical saw, and acoustic bass, one gets the feeling of being out in the country — much like I am at this very moment. Even in their more experimental state, in the five “Interlude” tracks, there’s a distinct country feel to their songs, only partly emphasized by the sheer acoustic nature of the music. It becomes quickly apparent that these are not your run-of-the-mill tunes by your run-of-the-mill artist. Instead, these are highly skilled musicians with a set direction, a set path whatever it may be. And along this path they’re making great music — already distinctly clear in vision on this, their debut release. To sum it up in a short phrase: pure brilliance”. – Fencepost.com
